SAPAC Access Grid Facilities

SAVRC

The South Australian Virtual Reality Centre is outfitted for use as a room-based, cinema-style AG node. It can accomodate up to around 100 people at maximum capacity, though this would not be ideal for a fully-collaborative AG event; the smaller room size (seating to around 24) is better suited to a fully two-way event. That said, successful use has been made of the expanded room with around 40 people present locally, for an AG-based interstate conference.

Four cameras are located in the room, and are controllable from the operator's desk. Ceiling-mounted PZM microphones are used for room pick-up.

The latest AG Toolkit is installed, and VNC is available.

Due to the complexity of this node, it is strongly suggested that an experienced node operator be present during an AG event. For more details see the South Australian Nodes page.

Bookings are to be made via the Booking Forms Page, and fees for use may apply (see here).

Access Grid Meeting Room

A meeting-room-style node is available for use for meetings of up to 10-12 people. It has two XGA projectors, two pan-zoom-tilt cameras, echo-cancelling microphones, and a separate node operator's desk.

A node operator will always set-up for the meeting, and, depending on the nature of the meeting, may remain in attendance. As this facility is located in the SAPAC Annexe, staff are close at hand.

For more details see the South Australian Nodes page.

Again, a booking must be made.

Fees for use may apply (see here).

As a guide to those organising Access Grid sessions, we've developed a one-page document as a check-list for basic information to be shared between sites involved in that session. Details such as physical node location, operator/co-ordinator phone numbers, etc, are asked for. It's available here as a Word document.
