Applications overview High-performance computers and software are used in many areas within both the educational/research and industrial sectors.These tools can be applied wherever the subject matter is amenable to mathematical modelling, as this can be used to predict behaviour of various physical (and indeed hypothetical) systems under various conditions. This can be of use for fields as disparate as molecular-level drug design, to stress modelling of automotive components, to predicting seismic wave propogation through the Earth. Listed here are a number of case studies for which HPC methods were employed.
