Usage policy The Orion supercomputer consists of 40 compute nodes, each with 4 processors and 4 GBytes of memory. Orion is managed by the South Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing (SAPAC). The use of 36 nodes is reserved for researchers associated with CSSM or the NCFLGT. The remaining 4 nodes are available to other SAPAC users. NOTE: If you are NOT associated with the Centre for the Subatomic Structure of Matter (CSSM) or the National Computing Facility for Lattice Gauge Theory (NCFLGT), you will need to supply a good reason why you want to use Orion. Before using Orion, you MUST read all of this User's Guide to Orion. If you have any questions about the machine, email the SAPAC helpdesk. NOTE: The host or front end for the cluster is a dual-processor Sun Ultra 80 called orion. It is to be used ONLY for program development and compilation. Do NOT run any jobs on the front end. See this User's Guide for how to run jobs on the compute nodes of Orion. Users who violate the above policy may have their accounts disabled.
